Haiti Will Rise Again
KING WAWA’S NEW SONG & VIDEO
What I saw was devastating and if they don't get help it's going to get worse. Especially with the rainy season coming. Currently there are people living in tents. This temporary housing will not be good enough in the face of the hurricane season approaching. With that said Haiti needs sponsors that would directly help the people of Haiti rebuild as the government there is not fit to do so.
A solution to this problem is to bring housing. Domes that can be made with our natural resources like the soil from our own back yard are inexpensive and strong. This will also be a way to create jobs. I recently went through training at Cal-Earth and learned their techniques (see photos). I would like to help train people and show the community how to build their own domes.
My goal is to build 3,000 - 10,000 domes to create new communities and try to keep families together.
I am starting a non-profit organization to help the people in Haiti called the KingWawa Haiti Relief Project.
Return to Haiti
King WaWa will return to Haiti in the Fall with much
needed aid. More to details to come.
As I walked down the streets in Haiti I saw little kids walking about that haven't been helped. They are homeless and hungry. Some of the men who have shelter seek homeless young ladies on the streets and offer them shelter for the night in exchange for sexual activities. I don't consider this right because that's going to lead to is excessive pregnancies and the spread of many diseases etc. This is something that we can't afford to happen. The situation is already dire enough.
I went to Haiti Feb. 27, 2010 after the disaster that happened on January 12. I went to help my homeland and support my fellow citizens for about
2 months. It was devastating to see my country in such a horrible situation.
As a lot of people from different countries did their best to support and donate what they had, a lot of residents weren't getting the help necessary food, medical supplies, safe shelters etc. In my opinion the money raised is not distributed properly. As I stayed there, helping and looking for lost family members and friends, I did not see or hear any action from the Haitian government. I saw first hand the poor job the Haitian government did and is still doing. The stories that are told on CNN are a very distorted version of what is actually going on there.
On my visit to Haiti I was inspired to create this song and video
to raise money and give back to the community.
